I promised. This first post is a bit of test post. I’ll eventually load them all to Facebook, but I prefer to share first with you all.
They live in a Slurpee, and they think it’s fun.
I never did figure out where the ‘golden’ part comes from, but they’re impressive.
I can’t get over that at Barrow, the Inupiaq actually *eat* these.
Ravens in the cage just off to the right of the image have just snuck her a hunk of whatever the zoo feeds ravens. Ha! Freeloading!
And they do watch everything and everyone. Always. One of the brightest of birds.
And he thinks this is great weather. So did I, though.
Musk oxen family values!
The one at left lost part of a wing. Poor guy keeps wanting to fly. Felt badly for him, but in the wild, he’d be long dead.
This is the closest I got to a moose. And if it were not for the enclosure, if I were this close, I would be in a world of hurt.
They aren’t Alaskan, but they sure fit in well.
Natives on the Slope (that’s Alaskan for the farthest north part) live on these. Caribou sausage is excellent and popular in Alaska.

Title Wave is a fantastic bookstore. The selection would have any book lover entranced with delight. I don’t think Anchorage has any idea how superior it is to how many bookstores–not that they are ignorant, but it’s what they are used to, so how would they compare? It would be like growing up on lobster tail.
